Danté Marshall, creator of the oil paintings on cotton scrolls, wrote about his work in a way that we felt embodied the show. He writes,
“The destructive nature of the animal kingdom achieves harmony through necessity. One of the planet’s most advanced species, the squid, lives its life hiding to survive. Imagine what it could achieve without the weight of fear.
The destructive nature of mankind achieves balance through respect and love. We are indeed the planet’s most advanced species, yet some of us live our own lives hiding to survive. We must act to provide balance when the destruction of our fellow mankind and the materials of the planet outweigh the love and respect we need to harmonize.
After all, one never knows where one is in the cycle of creation and reincarnation; man will become squid, and the trees were once dancers. Honor every object on the earth as if it is our next form of existence.”
