Small Green Door presents “New Rituals” – paintings, installations and 3D-printed sculptures from Los Angeles artists Manwell Quiza and Leo Estevez. Visitors to the gallery space will experience dark chasms and revelatory light in a unique industrial setting as Quiza and Estevez interpret the eternal and ancient themes of time, space and the expanding universe in their own unique visual voices. Where Manwell’s painterly works focus mainly on reinventing classic tarot card deck imagery using vivid colors and golds on canvas and wood panels, Leo’s sculptures and installations range from the minuscule to the immersive, challenging visitors to explore environments both real and imagined.
New Rituals will be on exhibit from July 14 to August 18th. An artist’s reception will be held on July 14th from 7-10pm. All are welcome, hors d'oeuvres and refreshments provided by Cheese to Meet You and HillTop Brewing. Small Green Door is located at 2075 South Atlantic Blvd. in the city of Commerce, CA – 15 minutes south of Downtown LA.
Leo Estevez is also an LA based New Media Artist and Art Facilitator who creates interactive works that can modulate widely in scale and arrangement. His fascination with language and visual interpretation showcase the poetry within technology, design and nature. Leo’s works explore the deeper connection between the imperfection of technology and the seemingly perfect natural world.
Manwell Quiza is an LA based artist and performer whose soul-guided exploration of intuition, divination and magic culminated in *The Tarot de Quiza*, a masterpiece of 22 archetypal paintings inspired by Colombian creation mythology, pre-Columbian gold objects, pyramids, sacred geometry and trance-like states. The works draw from the interconnectedness of life and the visual language of mythology.
Small Green Door is an interactive design and product photography studio in East Los Angeles offering gallery and event space to promote and incubate artistic talent. Small Green Door celebrates diversity and community through history, education and the arts.
