ON CITY WALLS

Los Angeles, CA – Small Green Door is pleased to announce its inaugural gallery showing with “On City Walls,” a collection of new original works by seminal Los Angeles street artists Marcel “SEL” Blanco, Joe “PRIME” Reza, Karlos “BUMPS” Marquez and Kris Cunz. The show will feature 2,000 sq. feet of new works on canvas, metal and large wooden panels and will be supported by a display of archival materials, various tools of the trade and projected documentary film. On City Walls will be on exhibit from May 19 to June 16. An artist’s reception will be held on May 19th from 7-10pm. All are welcome, hors d'oeuvres and refreshments provided by Whole Foods.
Joe “PRIME” Reza is a founding father and one of the most influential artists of the Los Angeles graffiti style. PRIME is an original member of the “K2S” crew and gained national exposure when his work was featured in Spraycan Art, one of the earliest and most influential books on graffiti culture. He will be displaying paintings on canvas, metal and wood panels.
Marcel “SEL” Blanco is a Los Angeles native whose work is frequently exhibited in LA’s graffiti/street art scene and has been shown alongside Banksy, Shepard Fairey and other icons. He will be displaying new paintings and a series of limited edition prints which will be available.
Karlos “BUMPS” Marquez has been active in the LA art scene since 1984 when he began working under the graffiti name “Kartoon”. Marquez will be showing works encompassing a broad range of mixed-media pieces ranging from abstract art and graffiti to large works on canvas, wood panels and fabric.
Kris Cunz is a South LA native who has exhibited locally for more than 30 years. His “Graffiti Abatement Art I” project earned an “Artist in the Community” grant from the City of Los Angeles’ Cultural Affairs Department and a Design Achievement Award from the Arts Commission. Kris is currently concentrating on studio paintings which include abstracts, urban landscapes and collaborative works with local graffiti artists.
Small Green Door is an interactive design and product photography studio in east Los Angeles offering gallery and event space to promote and incubate artistic talent. Small Green Door celebrates diversity and community through history, education and the arts.
