This photo series is an editorial campaign created by the Small Green team as a pitch deck for California State Parks. Typically editorial shoots that feature outdoor gear are- as one would expect- set outdoors. The casual hiker might see their fantasy in these images, but not necessarily a reflection of their reality. This series marries the fantasy and reality by recreating outdoor setting within a monochromatic office.
The series drew tonal inspiration from films like Stranger Than Fiction and Fight Club to tell a cohesive story with a variety of products. By using the opposite of outdoor gear- a monochromatic office, the product is juxtaposed into the scene and begins to tell a story. The employee starts by dreaming of relaxing in her office. Soon she’s building a fire and camping out. Eventually, she throws her work in the air and chooses to step into the wild.
