It’s been some time since our last update, so let’s catch you up to speed:
We talked to Caltrans, who currently holds the plot of land we are proposing, and they told us they are open to negotiating a lease with the City of Commerce! The city would likely be able to rent the land for public use for $1/year until Caltrans continues its highway construction.
We want to make sure the city sees all the support we’ve been getting from the community so they go through with this acquisition deal. That means, residents of Commerce: email your local representative and let them know you'd like to see the first dog park in East LA!
Once negotiations begin, we will launch a Kickstarter to help fund the building of the park. Think fences, benches, water- all the amenities for our dogs to run around freely.
